The Blotz Phot Blog is part of the long troubled conversation I've been having with Photography over the last decade or so.
Presented here will be images old and new. Mostly Digital, but some from the A.D. (Ante-Digital) era. Some will be finely crafted Art... suitable for framing or perhaps scaring the children. Others will simply be family snaps... also suitable for scaring children.
Sometimes I'll get on here to ramble a bit. Or I'll link to some news story or other Blog I think the two or three people who accidently find their way here might need to see.
I'll also be announcing any gallery showings I may have in the Cincinnati area here.
If you like what you see, please drop me a line. Making fine art prints is a cast iron female canine, but I'd be happy to whip out a halfway decent 8x10 print at home to anybody willing to pay for shipping and display my work on their walls.
Thanx for dropping by
Lou Doench, Blotz
Blotz is the photographic psuedonym of Louis Doench of Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in 1968, Lou is married to Naomi Nelson of Birmingham, Alabama, and has somehow conned her into allowing him to stay at home and raise their children; Abigail (2) and Peanut (due the first week of June).
He is a graduate of Antonelli College with an Associates Degree in Commercial Photography. He has absolutley never had any intention of doing any commercial photography. Please don't tell them that... they'll be crushed.
Blotz came about as a fun way to sign his pieces before they went up for critique. I think it was Bill Davis (check out his site in the links above) who encouraged his students to actually put titles on their student work, and Blotz became an extension of that creativity.
Lou's late father, Douglas Anthony Doench, wrote a semi-autobiographical story chonicaling the life of one Nugaford Blotz entitled "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Clod", which is very funny and so thats where Blotz come from. Lou hopes to publish it in some form someday, most likely when all of the principles (ie. his mother) are no longer with us and can no longer bring lawsuits.
So that's where Blotz comes from.
Respectfully,
Studebaker Fairbanks...
Another of Lou's psuedonyms, to be explained at a later date.
